Fondazione Italiana Diabete (FID) is a prominent non-profit organization in Italy, dedicated to the prevention, research, and treatment of diabetes. The mission of the Fondazione Italiana Diabete is to enhance the lives of people living with diabetes and to find a cure for this widespread disease. FID aims to:
- Promote Research: Support and fund groundbreaking research to discover new treatments and ultimately a cure for diabetes.
- Raise Awareness: Increase public knowledge about diabetes, its risks, and management strategies.
- Support Patients: Provide resources, education, and support for people living with diabetes and their families.
Key Activities and Initiatives
1. Funding Innovative Research: FID has consistently funded innovative research projects that explore new frontiers in diabetes treatment. The foundation collaborates with leading medical institutions and researchers to drive scientific discoveries. One notable project involved the development of a novel insulin pump that mimics the pancreas, providing better glucose control for patients.

In MAY 2024 I became an INNODIA Stakeholder and I am excited to be part of the future conferences in Madrid, Belgium and Netherland or any other possible place..about Diabetes. Pretty convenient to live 30 min from one of the biggest airport in the middle of Europe, Amsterdam Schipol airport:) I am proud to have obtained my certificate in "Making a Medicine" with INPACT.
INNODIA
INNODIA a collaborative research project dedicated to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D). Funded by the European Union and comprising a network of leading academic institutions, industry partners, and patient organizations, INNODIA aims to revolutionize the understanding and management of T1D through innovative research and community engagement.

The mission of INNODIA is to create a sustainable network that will significantly improve the prediction, prevention, and treatment of type 1 diabetes. INNODIA’s vision includes:
- Advancing Research: Conducting cutting-edge research to uncover the mechanisms underlying T1D and develop new therapeutic strategies.
- Enhancing Early Detection: Improving methods for early detection of T1D to intervene before significant damage occurs.
- Supporting Patients and Families: Providing resources and support for individuals and families affected by T1D to improve their quality of life.
Key Activities and Initiatives
1. Collaborative Research: INNODIA leverages the collective expertise of its members to conduct comprehensive research on T1D. The project focuses on understanding the genetic, immunological, and environmental factors that contribute to the onset and progression of the disease. By fostering collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and patients, INNODIA accelerates the translation of research findings into clinical practice.
INPACT
INPACT (Innovative Platform for Clinical Trials) extends INNODIA's work by focusing on new clinical trials based on the consortium’s findings. This platform aims to streamline the testing of new treatments, ensuring they reach patients more efficiently

My passion for sport since 1999 lead me to became a triathlete with Diabetes in the Netherland. As soon as I started I became interested in the work of Bas Van der Goor Foundation. Bas and his team not only are inspiring and energizing loving crew but they also helped me here in the Netherland to step up my Diabetes Game. Now it is time for me to give back to them :)
Bas van de Goor Foundation
The Bas van de Goor Foundation (BvdGF) is a distinguished non-profit organization based in the Netherlands, dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes through sports and exercise. Founded by Bas van de Goor, a former professional volleyball player and Olympic gold medalist, the foundation harnesses the power of physical activity to promote health and well-being among individuals with diabetes.

The mission of the Bas van de Goor Foundation is to enhance the lives of people with diabetes by encouraging and facilitating participation in sports and physical activities. The foundation's vision includes:

- Raising Awareness: Increasing public understanding of diabetes and the benefits of an active lifestyle.
- Supporting Research: Contributing to research on the impact of sports and exercise on diabetes management.

I started my contact with Marcello Grossu, President of ANIAD in 2024. Our collaboration will not only consist in sharing my story, passions, achievements to ANIAD but also collaborate to create a team of Athletes with Diabetes on a International level.

Raising Awareness and Sharing Knowledge
As an active social media user, I leverage platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn to spread awareness about diabetes. Through my accounts such as *GlucoFit360* about *Diabete&Ele**Elecampagnoli**, I share personal experiences, educational content, and updates on the latest research. This helps to educate and inspire others to support diabetes-related causes.
Educating and Inspiring Others
With my Social Media Campaigns I share informative posts, stories, and live sessions on Instagram and LinkedIn about managing diabetes, new treatment options, and how people can support ongoing research. This helps in spreading knowledge and motivating others to contribute.
My active presence in Workshops and Webinars where I participate in to listen in or help organize educational workshops and webinars to provide valuable information to the diabetes community. This empowers individuals to manage their condition better and stay informed about the latest developments in diabetes research.
Supporting Fundraising Initiatives
I actively promote fundraising campaigns for Fondazione Italiana Diabete, ANIAD and Bas van de Goor Foundation. By leveraging my social media presence, I help drive donations and support for research and community programs.
I participate in events organized by these foundations, such as charity runs, sports events, and awareness drives. These events not only raise funds but also increase public awareness about diabetes and its challenges.
Conclusion
Volunteering with Fondazione Italiana Diabete, INNODIA, INPACT, and the Bas van de Goor Foundation allows me to make a tangible impact in the fight against diabetes.
Through raising awareness, supporting research, promoting fundraising initiatives, and providing community support, I help accelerate progress towards better management and a potential cure for diabetes. My involvement with these organizations not only helps those affected by diabetes but also educates and inspires others to join the cause.
Sharing my experience with Diabetes since 1999 when we had not insulin pumps or continuous glucose monitors, a different time where sport was not suggested for DT1, since today where I am a proud triathlete with diabetes dreaming that day where I can be free from this disease!
